■ 유현미 작가의 개인전 《Good Luck: 십장생》에서는 조각과 회화, 사진의 경계를 넘나들며 작업하는 유현미 작가의 신작 〈십장생〉연작을 소개한다. 십장생은 해, 구름, 물, 돌, 소나무, 대나무, 영지, 거북, 학, 사슴 등 건강하고 오래 살기를 기원하면서 정한 전통적인 열 가지 상징물을 뜻한다. 구복과 길상을 바라는 마음은 시대를 막론하고 오래 전부터 이어져 왔다. 이번 전시에서는 유현미 작가가 전통적인 개념인 십장생을 일상 속에서 흔하게 볼 수 있는 소재들을 사용해 현대적으로 재해석한 작품들을 만나볼 수 있다.
■ The exhibition Good Luck: Sipjangsaeng features a series of Sipjangsaeng – The Ten Traditional Symbols of Longevity, Hyun Mi YOO’s modern reinterpretation of the 'Sipjangsaeng,' which is the result of interaction between sculpture, painting and photography. A Sipjangsaeng is the ten traditional symbols (sun, clouds, water, stones, pine trees, bamboo, lingzhi mushrooms, turtles, cranes, and deer) that represent longevity and good luck. YOO reinterprets the traditional concept of good luck, ‘Sipjangsaeng’ with materials that can be found in everyday life.
