The exhibition 《Ether》 focuses on ‘reality’ that must be traversed to create and realize works of art. Although the concept of reality itself is neither visible nor tangible, it serves as a fundamental condition that influences the production of physical artworks and exhibitions, ultimately shaping their manifestation.
Within this framework, five figures from the art world—Dan Kim(sculptor), Sohee Kim(graphic designer), Seoyoung Park(curator), Seonhee Park(installation artist), and Jiwon Hwang(curator)—use their individual experiences of reality as material to bring that very reality into focus.
In their works, reality functions as a constraint, a boundary, a foundation, and a potential, revealing itself both directly and indirectly. This process evokes the analogy of reality as ether, a medium for bringing ideas into the world. Just as ether is no longer regarded as the substance transmitting light waves, but rather as a symbol of a medium that facilitates entry into and understanding of an unknown realm, this concept forms a bridge to the tangible world. Through the careful attention of these five participants, each fully immersed in exploring the subtle textures of reality, we are invited to reflect on the meaning of reality within the context of art and how we perceive and internalize it today.
