In Spring Volition, the artist endows new meaning to the sculpture’s interior and exterior. Lim defines the exterior as representing ascent, positivity, vitality, and protrusion, and the interior as descent, stagnation, and intaglio, adding each meaning onto the sculpture’s surface. He positions an interactive surface at the center, where the form transitions from negative relief to positive relief. The flow from negative to positive is articulated through variations in speed and directionality. This metaphorically reflects the human life curve, where phases of ascent and decline coexist, aiming to offer the courage and energy needed to move forward.
