이일호 작가는 인간 존재의 본질과 내면의 감각을 탐구하는 원로 조각가로, 인체를 매개로 사랑, 성, 죽음, 윤회 등 삶의 근원적 주제를 초현실적 조형 언어로 풀어낸다. 그의 작품은 감각과 직관, 에로티시즘과 나르시시즘, 그리고 존재에 대한 철학적 사유를 바탕으로, 관람자에게 깊은 내면의 울림을 선사한다.
이번에 전시되는 〈사랑으로〉는 철판 위에 도색된 대형 조각으로, 사랑의 순간을 형상화한 감각적인 작품이다. 왜곡된 인체 형상과 상징적 색채는 현실과 환상의 경계를 넘나들며, 사랑이라는 감정의 복합성과 인간 내면의 충동을 시각적으로 드러낸다. 이 작품은 단순한 구상이 아닌, 관람자의 상상력을 자극하는 기호적 요소로서, 작가 특유의 감각이 돋보인다.
이일호(b.1946) 작가는 홍익대학교 미술대학 조소과 및 동대학원을 졸업했으며, 파리 FIAC(1996), 요코하마 NICAF(1992) 등 다양한 아트페어에 참가했고 제6회 중앙일보 미술대전 대상, 제5회 중앙일보 미술대전 장려상, 대한민국 미술대전 특선 등 다수의 미술전에서 수상하였다.
Il-ho Lee is a senior sculptor who explores the essence of human existence and internal sensations. Using the human body as his main motif, he addresses fundamental themes of life such as love, sex, death, and reincarnation through a surreal sculptural language. Rooted in sensation, intuition, eroticism, narcissism, and philosophical reflections on existence, his work offers an emotional and introspective experience.
With Love is a large-scale sculpture made with painted steel, sensuously depicting a moment of love. The distorted human forms and symbolic colors blur the boundaries between reality and fantasy, visualizing the complexity of love and the human impulses. The work features symbolic elements that stimulate the viewer’s imagination, showcasing the artist’s distinctive sensibility.
Il-ho Lee(b.1946) earned his bachelor’s and master’s in Sculpture from Hongik University. He has participated in multiple art fairs such as FIAC in Paris (1996) and NICAF in Yokohama (1992). His has won multiple awards including the Grand Prize at the 6th JoongAng Fine Arts Prize, a Special Mention at the 5th JoongAng Fine Arts Prize, and a Special Selection Award at the Grand Art Exhibition of Korea.
