Buhm Hong has mainly presented spaces that cannot be seen in real life and only exist in memory through variations on furniture or building structures. The Memory Weed series is a landscape of memories that expand his project outward. Like weeds growing out of an abandoned space, the images overlap and connect as they spread outward with an amazing vitality. The ever-changing and evolving memories are displayed in a new space and intersect with the viewer, providing unique memories for each individual’s future.
Buhm Hong (b.1970) has a BFA in Industrial Design from Hongik University and MFAs in Photography and Computer Art from the School of Visual Arts. He has held solo exhibitions at CR Collective (2023), National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Cheongju (2019), Gallery SoSo (2019), Suwon I-park Museum of Art (2017), Paradise ZIP (2016), and Space CAN (2014). He has also participated in multiple group exhibitions held at venues such as Busan Museum of Art, AHL Foundation, Amorepacific Museum of Art, National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Cheongju, Yeulmaru Art Center, DOOSAN Art Center’s DOOSAN Gallery, TSA gallery, Jeonbuk Museum of Art, SFA Project, Total Museum of Contemporary Art, Arko Art Center, Jeju Osulloc Tea Museum, and Gwangju Museum of Art.
<기억의 잡초>연작은 주로 건물 내부에 가구나 구조의 변주를 통해 기억 어딘가에서는 존재하지만 현실에서는 볼 수 없는 공간을 다루던 작가의 작업이 외부로 확장되어 드러나는 기억의 풍경이다. 오래 버려두었던 공간의 내부에서 비집고 나오는 잡초처럼 무수히 중첩되고 연결되면서 자연스럽게 바깥으로 번져나가며 강한 생명력을 보여준다. 끊임없이 변하고 진화하는 기억은 새로운 장소와 만나 관객들의 여러 시간과 교차되며 다가올 개개인의 미래에 대한 고유한 기억의 순간들을 제공한다.
홍범(b.1970)은 홍익대학교 미술대학 산업디자인을 전공하고, School of Visual Arts에서 사진 영상과 컴퓨터 아트 석사를 졸업했다. 씨알콜렉티브(2023), 국립현대미술관 청주관(2019), 갤러리소소(2019), 수원 아이파크 시립미술관(2017), 파라다이스 집(2016), 스페이스 캔(2014) 등에서 개인전을 개최했고, 부산시립미술관, AHL Foundation, 아모레퍼시픽 미술관, 국립현대미술관 청주관, 예울마루, 두산아트센터 두산갤러리, TSA gallery, 전북도립미술관, SFA Project, 토탈미술관, 아르코미술관, 제주 오설록 티뮤지엄, 광주시립미술관 등 다수의 단체전에 참여했다.
