노동식 작가는 솜을 재료로 구름을 만들고 동화 속의 이미지를 형상화 하는 등 주로 따뜻한 기억과 동심의 표현을 통해 어린 시절의 추억과 자유로운 상상력을 담게 하는 작품을 만든다.
이번에 전시하는 “민들레” 시리즈는 자유와 희망, 동심을 표현하는 작품으로, 민들레 홀씨가 바람을 타고 날아가는 모습과 소년과 소녀를 작품의 주제로 형상화하여, 우리 모두의 어린 시절 순수한 꿈과 희망을 상징화한다. 특히 야간에 조명이 켜지면 더욱 환상적인 분위기를 연출하며, 마치 홀씨가 밤하늘을 향해 날아가는 듯한 느낌을 제공한다.
노동식(b.1973) 작가는 경원대학교 환경조각과 학사 및 대학원 석사를 졸업했으며, 서울대 시흥캠퍼스 교육협력동(2015)에서 개인전을 개최하였으며 홍천미술관 동심조각전시(2025) 등에 참여하며 다양한 작품활동을 하고 있다.
Dong-sik Roe uses cotton as his primary material to create clouds and images inspired by fairy tales. His work evokes warm memories and childhood innocence by capturing the roaming imagination and nostalgic recollections of youth.
His Dandelion series symbolizes freedom, hope, and childlike wonder. By depicting dandelion seeds drifting in the wind alongside figures of young boys and girls, the work represents the pure dreams and hopes we all shared as children. At night, when the sculptures are illuminated, the dandelion seeds appear as if they are drifting in the sky, creating a fantastical scene.
Dong-sik Roe(b.1973) earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Environmental Sculpture from Kyungwon University. He has held solo exhibitions at venues such as Seoul National University’s Siheung Campus (2015) and participated in the Children’s Sculpture Exhibition at the Hongcheon Art Museum (2025).
