Lines in Flux utilizes monofilament fibers such as recycled plastic nylon, recycled copper, and carbon fibers. He likens his unique method and creative process of handling textiles to a symphony, and strives to express the flow and rhythm of woven forms through urban space as a harmonious melody. When viewers stand next to the work, they can experience the sensation of walking through a musical composition as the fabric subtly shifts in response to light and wind. Through this work, Oh hopes that viewers will newly recognize their position and relationships within the city, and reflect on the meaning of coexistence within an intricately intertwined society.
Sangmin Oh(b.1994) studied Public Private at the Design Academy Eindhoven in the Netherlands. Oh has held solo exhibitions at venues such as RE;CODE Cheongdam (2024) and Rebirth Jeju (2023), and participated in many local and international projects and group exhibitions including the Re;Code & Kolon Industries Aramid Yarn Recycling Project, Doen Do (Rotterdam, Netherlands), Open Studio (Rotterdam, Netherlands), Alcova Milano (Milan, Italy), and Amsterdam Rai (Amsterdam, Netherlands). In 2022, he won the Dutch Young Talent Award from the Textile Museum in Tilburg.
<변주하는 선들>은 재생 플라스틱 계열의 나일론, 리사이클 구리 및 카본 등의 모노필라멘트 섬유를 활용해 제작된 작품이다. 그는 텍스타일이라는 매체를 다루는 고유한 방식과 창작 과정을 ‘하나의 교향곡’에 비유하며, 이를 통해 도시 공간 속에서 편물의 흐름과 리듬을 조화로운 선율처럼 표현하고자 했다. 관객이 작품 옆에 서면 빛과 바람에 따라 미묘하게 변화하는 직물의 움직임을 통해 마치 선율 속을 거니는 듯한 감각을 경험할 수 있다. 그는 이 작품을 통해 관람자들이 도시 속에서 자신이 위치한 자리와 관계망을 새롭게 인식하고 얽히고설킨 사회 속에서 공존의 의미를 되새기기를 바란다.
오상민(b.1994) 작가는 네덜란드 Design Academy Eindhoven에서 Public Private를 전공하였다. 래코드 청담(2024), 솟솟리버스 제주(2023) 등에서 개인전을 개최하였으며, Re;Code & 코오롱 인더스트리 아라미드 원사 재생 프로젝트, Doen Do(로테르담, 네덜란드), Open Studio(로테르담, 네덜란드), Alcova Milano(밀라노, 이탈리아), Amsterdam Rai(암스테르담, 네덜란드) 등 국내외 여러 프로젝트와 단체전에 참여하였다. 2022년에는 네덜란드 틸뷔르흐의 텍스타일 뮤지엄(Textiel Museum in Tilburg)에서 ‘올해의 영 탤런트 어워드(Dutch Young Talent Award)’를 수상한 바 있다.
