김명범(b. 1976)은 서울시립대학교 예술체육대학 환경조각과 학사, School of the Art Institute of Chicago 조각과 석사를 졸업했다.아트스페이스 펄(2020, 2017), 누루미술관(2020), 롯데갤러리(2019), 산수미술관(2018), 탄약고 프로젝트 #1 DMZ 캠프 그리브스(2018), 리안갤러리(2018), 갤러리 파리베이징(2017), 아트바젤 홍콩 인사이트(2015), 갤러리 인(2014), 피스트아트 파운데이션(2011), 두산아트센터 두산갤러리(2009) 외 국내외 다수의 기관에서 개인전을 개최하고, APMAP 2018 제주, Zorlu Center, 조시비 미술관, 광주시립미술관, 문화역서울284 등 다수의 단체전에 참여했다. 김명범은 2024년 수림미술상을 수상했다.
In cities, streetlights are as ubiquitous as trees. The lights that line the streets seem to be as interconnected as the countless people living in the city, but their presence is largely unnoticed until they turn on after sunset. In Mirage, the artist exposes the network of wires connecting the streetlights, which resembles an uprooted street tree, to reveal what is under the surface. The common objects of everyday life become metaphors that reflect human life.
Myeongbeom Kim (b. 1976) has a BFA in Environmental Sculpture from the University of Seoul and an MFA in Sculpture from the Art Institute of Chicago. He has held multiple solo exhibitions at local and international venues such as Art Space Purl (2020, 2017), Nuru Museum (2020), Lotte Gallery (2019), Sansu Museum of Art (2018), Magazine Project #1 at DMZ Camp Greaves (2018), LEEAHN Gallery (2018), Galerie Paris-Beijing (2017), Art Basel Hong Kong (2015), Gallery IHN (2014), Fist Art Foundation (2011), and DOOSAN Art Center’s DOOSAN Gallery (2009). He has also participated in multiple group exhibitions held at venues such as APMAP 2018 Jeju, Zorlu Center, Joshibi Art Museum, Gwangju Museum of Art, and Culture Station Seoul 284. He received the Surim Art Award in 2024.
