MoMo uses a rectangular structure that resembles a smartphone to recreate the graceful movements of butterflies. The two square wings react to even the slightest breeze, revealing a vitality that transcends the digital. The work invites the viewers to contemplate the boundaries between technology and nature, stillness and movement, the two-dimensional and three-dimensional.
Soojin Ahn (b.1962) earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Sculpture from Seoul National University’s College of Fine Arts. He has held solo exhibitions at venues including Dodeun Arthouse (2023), Czong Institute for Contemporary Art (2023), Art Space Plasque (2022), and has participated in numerous group exhibitions and biennales at venues including the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul Museum of Art, Kim Chong Yung Museum, and the Seoul International Media Art Biennale. He won the Special Prize for Sculpture at the Grand Art Exhibition of Korea, was featured in the 1992 Young Korean Artists exhibition, and was selected as the Kim Chong Yung Museum’s Artist of the Year in 2009.
<모모>는 스마트 폰을 연상시키는 직사각형의 구조물을 활용하여 나비의 우아한 움직임을 재현한다. 두 개의 사각형 날개는 미세한 바람에도 반응하며 움직이고 이 움직임은 디지털 너머의 생동감을 상징적으로 드러낸다. 작품은 기술과 자연, 정지와 움직임, 평면과 입체의 경계를 성찰하게 한다.
안수진(b.1962) 작가는 서울대학교 미술대학 조소과 학사 및 동 대학원 석사를 졸업했다. 도튼갤러리(2023), CICA 미술관(2023), 아트스페이스 플라스크(2022) 등에서 개인전을 개최하였고, 국립현대미술관, 서울시립미술관, 김종영미술관, 서울국제미디어아트비엔날레 등 다수의 국내외 단체전 및 비엔날레에 참여하였다. 또한 국립현대미술관 대한민국미술대전 조각부문 특선, ‘젊은모색 92-작가’로 선정된 바 있으며 2009년도 김종영미술관 올해의 작가로 선정되었다.
